Wicked Esther wrote:Wow, thank you for sharing all of this stuff, Captain. I'm impressed by the photos, but also a few other things:
1. You were 15 in 1972.
I'm jealous. I was 5 in 1972 and would love to have been 15 so I could remember the 70's better.
2. You've been to San Juan. My mom is Puerto Rican--the whole maternal side of my family is from San Juan and I've never been there. Some day.
3. And Liza Minelli.
'Nuff said.![]()
Looking forward to more!

I also noticed those are some short-shorts there in the palm tree pic.
(Believe me, I could find some teenaged pics of myself that are just as funny--I'm just not brave enough to show youse.

Yeah, that is interesting that you could leave school as young as 15. I have a 15 year old son right now and the thought of him joining the navy at this age is....well....scary as all hell, yet comical at the same time.
15 is SOOooo young!

Good to see you in villa colours, I remember some of the fashion disasters of the 70's, the trousers with side pockets and 6 inch 12 button waist. I have pics but wouldn't post them

Too busy dancing the night away thats why lol
Re: my time in the royal navy part 1 1972/74
You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself Captain. My family history has been sullied because of your lapse attitude toward your betters. How dare you blatantly ignore visiting the ship captained by a great family ancestor that prevented our navy from ending up consisting of a small fishing fleet based in Lime Regis.
